This is the fifth episode of the journey into my archive – to see what I have, tell you about how the work was made, and give you some of the stories behind the images.
In this episode, I face something I have not wanted to look at for 30 years: my work from the break up of the former Yugoslavia. When we talk about the break up of the former Yugoslavia, from 1990-1991 onwards, we are talking about four or five civil wars closely connected to each other. It is a complex story, and, as a result, this is a much longer episode that I did in one take.
I have an emotional attachment to this work, and I must warn you that this episode contains some graphic images.
Christopher Morris was born in California in 1958 and began his career as a documentary conflict photographer working almost exclusively for TIME Magazine, where he has been on contract since 1990. He has been credited with redefining political coverage in America during his years working at the White House for TIME Magazine from 2000 to 2009. While working as a photojournalist, Morris expanded his work into the fashion world. Morris is a founding member of VII Photo.
